This school year, three new students came to Chilton as part of the AFS program. Ahmed Elsharnoby, who is now seventeen years old, is one of these students. He travelled all the way from Cairo, Egypt, where he lived at home with his parents and seven-year-old sister Celina.
He goes by the name “Sharnoby” at CHS as it is easier for everyone to pronounce.
Sharnoby played soccer in his home country. This year, though, he tried American football and was one of the star players for the Tigers.
He wore number 84 and was one of CHS’s best kickers. In total, he made 43 out of 45 placekicks, helping the Tigers finish the season 9-4 and second in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference. The team even made it to the playoffs.
Sharnoby says that he really enjoys being in the US. He also said that he likes the people here and the different opportunities.
Sharnoby said he wants to go ice skating, which shouldn’t be hard to accomplish while living in Wisconsin.
The AFS program offers lots of new opportunities for students from different countries. They get to experience the customs and daily life in a new country.
